Glossary
The words the portal uses, and what each one means here.
- Active
- An approved account with normal access. See Account status.
- Broadcast
- Email sent to a group. Always carries an unsubscribe link.
- Capacity
- The maximum going for an event. Setting one is what enables a waitlist.
- Company
- A tenant organisation leasing at The VIC. Everyone belongs to one.
- Door list
- The printable attendee roster front-desk staff check arrivals against.
- Draft
- An event saved but not visible to tenants.
- Feed (.ics)
- A subscribable calendar link. Your calendar app re-reads it periodically.
- Inactive
- Access switched off — usually because someone left their company.
- Lane
- Whether an email is broadcast or transactional. Decides unsubscribe behaviour.
- Occurrence
- One date generated by a recurring series. Each is RSVP'd separately.
- Pending
- An account awaiting staff approval. Sign-in works; protected pages don't.
- Promotion
- Moving from the waitlist to going — automatic when a spot opens.
- Provenance
- On a roster: whether someone RSVP'd themselves or was added by staff.
- Resource
- Anything bookable — a room, the dock, a parking space.
- Series
- A recurring event defined once, generating many occurrences.
- Slot
- A bookable block of time. 60 minutes for both conference rooms.
- Suppression list
- Addresses that have unsubscribed. Broadcasts skip them; receipts don't.
- Transactional
- Email that's a receipt for something you did. No unsubscribe.
- Waitlist
- The ordered queue for a full event.
- Waiver
- A signed release required before using the gym or courts.
